The idea for this initiative arose during a 13mi walk in the hot sun 🌞.
I reflected deeply on my 30 years as a Buddhist — my seeking, studying, personal experiences, successes, and failures. So much external looking for that which was inside all along. Being a Westerner in ethnic monastic communities gave me a constant feeling of being an outsider, especially when other languages were used for day to day life. Being an Otrovert compounded this, as for much of my life I have felt like an anthropologist studying the world around me and my own life as I lived it — not quite fitting in. I’m sure that most immigrants have this experience, and I am like a Buddhist immigrant. Having been an ordained monastic for a time, I realized that I needed to fully embrace the robe of freedom and experience more solitary practice in order to deepen my understanding. Hence, the idea of traveling around from place to place, like the Buddha did, kept arising in my mind and inspired me to create this page – with the hope of serving people with nature appreciation, reflections, lived application of the Dharma, meditation, and day-to-day life in a very tiny Kuti (monk hut). I hope that you will enjoy visiting my blog. With the help of supporters, I will soon add vlogs and nature photography.
